Kazakhstan to host discussions on improving its investment climate

The issue regarding the improvement of Kazakhstan's investment climate will be one of the topics to be discussed at the 47th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Astana, Chairman of the Board of the Economic Research Institute JSC, Maskat Mukhanov said on April 21 at a briefing at the Central Communications Service under the Kazakh president.

"'Invest in Kazakhstan' international conference will be held for the first time during the meeting. During the conference, politicians and businessmen will discuss the most important issues related to investments in Kazakhstan's economy," Mukhanov said.

The topics to be discussed during the 47th meeting of ADB include: regional economic cooperation in Central Asia, as well as ADB's special program for 2015-2016.

"This program aims to support the diversification of our economy, the development of agriculture, communications and economy," Mukhanov said.

The board chairman of the JSC added that special attention will be paid to the poverty eradication problem, as well as resolving social problems in the Asian region.

Mukhanov recalled that the majority of ADB member states are developing countries and their economic development level is not high enough yet.

"Therefore, the reduction of disparities in the regional development is an important component of stability in Asia," the board chairman of the JSC said.

The 47th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be held in Astana from May 2 to May 5 on the topic 'New Silk Road - connecting Asia with the changing world'.

Around 3,000-5,000 people from 67 countries will participate at the meeting. Moreover, finance ministers, heads of large international banks, financial organizations and leading specialists from the bank's member states will attend the meeting.

The ADB's headquarters is located in the capital of the Philippines, Manila. The bank was founded in 1966. The bank aims to contribute to the economic growth in the Asian and Far East regions. Currently, ADB has 22 offices worldwide, including Kazakhstan.
