As of the first quarter of 2014, the uranium production volume in Kazakhstan amounted to 5,380 tons or by two percent more than the planned indices, Kazatomprom national company said on April 28.

"The company's uranium production volume, including the shares in subsidiaries and affiliates, amounted to 2,980 tons in the first quarter of 2014," according to a statement.

Ulba Metallurgical Plant's total performance indices correspond to the planned ones. Beryllium production totaled 411.8 tons, tantalum - 23.1 tons in the first quarter.

"MAEC-Kazatomprom" LLP generated 1.368 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, 1.088 million Gcal of heat energy, 292 million cubic meters of water, including 2.41 million cubic meters of drinking water for consumers of Aktau and the Mangistau region in the first three months. These figures cover the region's energy and water needs.

"Astana Solar" LLP produced 9,011 panels in the first three months of the year, which corresponds to 2.1 megawatts of energy.

The plant's output received the certificate of compliance with the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), IEC 61215-2005, IEC 61730-1, IEC 61730-2 in the first quarter.

"Astana Solar" LLP is the only photovoltaic module manufacturer in the CIS.

Kazatomprom is the national operator of Kazakhstan for the export of uranium and uranium compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and materials with dual purposes. Its main activities are geological exploration, the extraction of uranium, the manufacturing of products involved in the nuclear fuel cycle and construction materials as well as power industry, science, social security and personnel training.
