Turkmenistan will create a state commission for streamlined harvesting of cereals in 2014, according to a decree of Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

This will allow holding fast and lossless harvest at a high level, trouble-free transportation of the harvested cereals to warehouses and grain elevators, as well as, to timely make payments to grain producers, according to the decree.

This will also serve to regularly increase the production of wheat, which is considered a source of wealth and guarantee of food sovereignty.

Earlier it was reported that some 1.6 million tonnes of cereals are to be harvested from 860,000 hectares of lands in 2014.

Last year, Turkmenistan managed to harvest 1.6 million tonnes of cereals or 400,000 tonnes more than in 2012.

Some 1,880 combine harvesters of such brands as Case, New Holland, John Deere and CLAAS were used in the harvesting.

Turkmenistan has a council that supervises the export of agricultural and commodity products of ministries and sectoral departments, and the agricultural joint stock companies.
