Astana, Kazakhstan, May 27

By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan intends to actively develop all possible sales channels in order to maintain its leading position in the global uranium market, the country's Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Asset Issekeshev said.

"Uranium will be mainly exported to the rapidly growing Asian market," Issekeshev said.

He stressed that the resource base of uranium allows significantly increasing production, however, there is a risk of exhaustion of the most attractable fields with low production cost.

"After completing the phase of active increasing of uranium production, the priority will be given to the creation of a full cycle of nuclear fuel production that will maximally use its own resource base," the deputy prime minister said.

Issekeshev went on to add that it is planned to develop the technologies for producing high value added products, to expand the export potential and develop new sales channels.
