Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia to adopt single technical regulation on road safety

Technical Regulations of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia on road safety will come into effect from February 15, 2015, Kazakhstan's Transport and Communications Ministry reported.

The document establishes the minimum requirements for the safety of roads, their design, construction and repair.

At present, there are different sets of standards - a lot of documents, containing a number of requirements in Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, after the entry into force of technical regulations the focus will be on the provision of security. Furthermore, the document will specify methods of compliance assessment of designers and builders meeting these requirements.

Kazakhstan is developing 11 technical regulations standards concerning requirements for the design of bridges and overpasses, the diagnostics and passport system, testing methods of icing materials, etc.
