The prices of some foods, including rice, beans, fruits, vegetables, as well as sugar, tea, and edible oil have decreased in Iran last week (May 31 - June 6), compared to the same period of 2013.

The Central Bank of Iran has also released a chart comparing the prices of staple foods in the mentioned week with its preceding week, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on June 9.

According to the report released by the Central Bank of Iran, the price of rice, edible oil, and beans has decreased by 1 percent, 4 percent, and 0.1 percent respectively, compared to the previous year.

The prices of fruits, vegetables, sugar, and tea also fell by 1.1 percent, 0.4 percent, 1.1 percent, and 0.5 percent respectively.

However, the prices of dairy, eggs and meat increased by 1.4 percent, 5.8 percent, and 2 percent, respectively.

Prices of staple foods in Iran have been on the rise as the administration will no longer allocate the U.S. dollar at the exchange rate of 12,260 rials for importing rice, meat, milk, and edible oil, the Mehr News Agency reported in July.
