It is planned to complete the construction of the new railway station in Astana, Kazakhstan by 2017, the country's Minister of Transport and Communications, Jenis Kasymbek said at a press conference on June 24.
"The operating railway station exceeds its design capacity by 30 percent. Therefore, Kazakhstan Temir Joly (Kazakhstan Railways) has started the construction of a new station with the capacity of up to 35,000 passengers per day. We plan to put this facility into operation by 2017," Kasymbek said.
The new railway station is among the facilities of the EXPO exhibition to be held in Kazakhstan in 2017.
