Baku, Azerbaijan, June 25

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakhstan and Germany discussed cooperation in transport sphere within the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Berlin, Kazakh Transport and Communication reported on June 25.

In particular the parties discussed the possibility of issuance of additional permissions for freight transportation.

Kazakh carriers have received 310 EURO-0 universal category permissions for goods transportation from 500 planned for 2014 as of June 1. Meanwhile 253 permits for goods transit to and from the third countries have been already issued out of 500 permits planned for 2014 for Kazakh carriers.

Thus, the Kazakh carriers need additional German transportation permits. On the initiative of Kazakhstan the parties agreed to consider the possibility of establishing an additional transportation quota in 2014. The countries plan to issue 200 additional universal permits for vehicles meeting the EURO-0 standards and 200 permits for goods transportation from and to third countries.

Kazakhstan and Germany also discussed the problems in international transport in the two countries, and developed ways to solve them to increase goods transportation.

Road goods transportation between Germany and Kazakhstan exceed railway goods transportation between the two countries nearly three times.
