Turkmenistan collects three-quarters of wheat

Some 1.196 million tonnes of wheat out of the planned volume of 1.6 million tonnes from 860,000 hectares were gathered in Turkmenistan which accounts for three-quarters of the scheduled harvest, the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture said.

Some 1.196 million tonnes of wheat out of the planned volume of 1.6 million tonnes from 860,000 hectares were gathered in Turkmenistan which accounts for three-quarters of the scheduled harvest, the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture said.

The green-growers of the Lebap region lead with more than 290,000 tonnes or 83 percent out of targeted 350,000 tonnes of wheat were delivered to the collection points.

More than 2,000 combines of Claas, Case, New Holland, John Deere brands are used while harvesting. The harvest time began earlier this month. A state commission was formed at the harvest time.

Last year, Turkmenistan managed to collect 1.6 million tonnes of grain, which is 400,000 tonnes more than in 2012.

In 2010, Turkmenistan for the first time exported a surplus of food grain.
