Industrial production volume in Azerbaijan reaches $22 billion in H1

The volume of industrial production (volume of production and rendered industrial services) stood at 16.9 billion AZN in Azerbaijan in January-June 2014, which is 2.4 percent less than in the same period of 2013, the country's State Statistical Committee said in its report.

"Azerbaijan's non-oil sector grew by 4.2 percent, while the oil sector dropped by 3.4 percent during the reporting period, compared to the same period of 2013," the report said.

Azerbaijan's non-oil sector saw high growth in the production of food, clothing, beverages, construction materials, furniture and other fields, according to the Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, the volume of production in the mining industry stood at 12.3 billion AZN, which accounted for 72.9 percent of the whole industrial production, or 2.7 percent less than in the same period of 2013.

Oil and natural gas production amounted to 21.22 million tonnes and 9.1 billion cubic meters, respectively, in January-June 2014. Oil production dropped by 2.7 percent, while the gas production has increased by 2.9 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

The production volume in the processing industry stood at 3.6 billion AZN with the specific weight of 21.1 percent, or 4.8 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam accounted for 5.4 percent of the total volume of industrial production, while the water supply, treatment and recycling of waste was 0.6 percent.

The official exchange rate on July 14 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
