Georgian Finance Ministry has returned oil bitumen to Iran, due to noncompliance with the standards of quality.

Some 116,070 kilograms of oil bitumen worth of about $65,812 was imported to Georgia from Iran through the Vale customs checkpoint on July 9.

The samples of the imported bitumen were sent for examination to the Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, Georgian Finance Ministry told Trend on July 23.

It was revealed that the bitumen imported to Georgia from Iran didn't comply with the standards indicated in the quality certificate provided by the importer.

Under the Georgian law, the bitumen was returned to the importer on July 22.
