Azerbaijan remains main market for Georgian exports

Some 20.4 percent of Georgia's exports fell to Azerbaijan in January-June 2014, according to the foreign trade report of the National Statistics Service of Georgia as of January-June 2014.

The goods worth $290.2 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-June, according to the report.

The exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 12.8 percent compared to the same period of 2013. For comparison, Georgian goods worth $332.8 million were exported to Azerbaijan in January-June last year.

Georgia mainly exports cars, cattle, medicines, cement, rebar and other products to Azerbaijan.

Armenia ranks second place. Georgian products worth $156.1 million (11 percent of total exports) have been exported to Armenia since early 2014, according to the report.

Russia ranked third in the export volume of Georgian goods - $134.1 million or 9.4 percent of total exports of Georgia in January-June 2014.

The trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the first six months amounted to $584.3 million (10.7 percent of the total foreign trade of Georgia), which is 3.7 percent less than in the same period of last year. For comparison, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $605.98 million in January-June 2013.
