Around 11,960 cars totaling $147.5 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-June, Georgia's National Statistical Service (GeoStat) said in its report.

The share of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan stood at 50.82 percent during the reporting period, according to GeoStat.

The volume of car export from Georgia to Azerbaijan has dropped by 22.2 percent, or by 7,900 in quantitative terms compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, the country exported some 19,901 cars worth of $189.6 million to Azerbaijan in January-June 2013.

The decrease in car supplies to Azerbaijan is due to the country's transition to the environmental standard of Euro-4. Implementation of this standard will start from April 1, 2014. Introduction of the Euro-4 significantly restricts the imports of used cars which constitute a large part of car imports from Georgia to Azerbaijan.

Cars are delivered to Georgia from abroad.

About $290.2 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in the first half of 2014, which accounts for 20.4 percent of this country's total export volume.

Exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan have dropped by 12.8 percent compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, some $332.8 million worth of Georgian products were exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-June 2013.
