Kazakhstan uses new technologies in construction of Western Europe-Western China corridor

New technologies are used in Kazakhstan in the construction of the international corridor "Western Europe - Western China", Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications Mereke Pshembaev said at a briefing in Astana.

"In particular, stabilizing devices, geosynthetic materials, coating from cement concrete, corrugated pipes, as well as new technology of monolithic construction of bridges are used today, " he said.

The introduction of new technologies and materials affect to the quality, lower cost and power saving, as well as longer service life and improvement of safety on the road, according to Pshembaev.

The vice-minister also noted that the construction of the corridor contributes to the development of related industries in the country for the production of bitumen, barrier fencing, lighting poles, paint and geosynthetic materials.

"In our plans includes completely abandon the import of these goods in Kazakhstan in the future, " he said.

As previously reported, in the period from 2010 to 2013 was completed and open to traffic by 1,727 kilometers corridor "Western Europe - Western China".

As reported earlier, the work has been completed from 2010 to 2014 and the traffic was opened in the 1727 kilometres of the "Western Europe - Western China" corridor.

" It is expected that by the end of this year another 157 km of the route will become available. Total reconstruction currently covered a 1,345 km corridor," Pshembaev said.

The total length of the corridor 'Western Europe-Western China' on the territory of Kazakhstan is 2,787 km; of which 2,452 km is subject to reconstruction, including 1,390 km - under I-tech category with 4 traffic lanes and 1,062 km - under II-tech category. 1,079 km of the corridor will have cement concrete pavement. Project completion is scheduled for 2015.
