Several hundred passenger buses will be delivered to Azerbaijani capital of Baku in autumn this year in order to ensure a high level of passenger transportation, Head of the Public Relations Department of Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Namig Hasanov told Trend Aug. 15.

He was answering the question about the need to upgrade the capital's bus fleet.

Hasanov said that after the delivery of new buses, it will be possible to replace the vehicles that are already technically worn out.

"The works to upgrade the bus fleet are underway, and it is expected that in the autumn several hundred new buses will be delivered. They will replace those buses that are in poor condition," Hasanov added.

Currently, there are over 2,000 buses in the Azerbaijani capital.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-June 2014, the country imported 167 buses worth around $8 million.
