Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said 87 percent of the country's total population are supplied with natural gas, Iran's Fars news agency reported on Aug. 26.
He made the remarks in the inauguration of the 10th International Energy Conference, which opened in Tehran Aug.26.
Natural gas holds a 70 percent share of the country's energy basket, he said, adding that more than 200 CNG stations are operating across the country, supplying about 20 million cubic meters of gas to over 3 million cars per day. This is unique in the world.
