Iran shoe exports drop 21 percent over 4 months

Iran shoe exports have dropped 21 percent in value in the first fourth months of the current year compared to the same period of last year.

Ali Lashkari, chairman of the association of Iranian shoemakers, said the shoe industry is grappling with many problems, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on August 27.

Exports of shoes dropped by 17 percent in weight in the first four months of the year, he said.

Iraq accounted for importing 60 percent of Iranian-made shoes, and the rest were exported to Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.

The Iranian solar year starts on March 21.
