Tehran bunkered 3.286 billion liters of fuel oil in the 12 month period which ended August 22.

The figure shows 28 percent increase compared to its preceding year's figure of 2.575 billion liters, Iran's SHANA News Agency reported on September 1.

Iran also bunkered 140 million liters of fuel oil in the mentioned period.

The Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mostafa Kashkouli said on April 30 that the country plans to supply 4 billion tons of fuels to ships sailing through its neighboring seas in the current Iranian solar year, which began on March 21, 2014.

National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) hasn't published annual fuel production as well as bunkering fuel statistics yet, but according to the Company's latest statistics which cover figures until March 2013, Iran supplied 1,804 million liters of fuels to ships.

According to this report, bunkering fuel statistics in a fiscal year to March 2009 was 3.345 million liters.

Iran exported totally 6.1 billion liters of fuel oil as well as 641 million liters of gas oil during a year to March 2013.

Kashkouli said on November 22 that Iran is not using its full capacity for oil swap and bunkering.

He also said that oil swap and bunkering could be very profitable for Iran.

"Iran needs to find some ways to benefit from this economic capacity as much as possible," Kashkouli said.
