Customs authorities of Azerbaijan take measures to prevent spread of A/H1N1 virus

Local structures of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan conducts certain activities at border checkpoints because of the geographical spread of the A/H1N1 virus, which jeopardizes human health and life, and reaches the level of the epidemic, the Customs Committee said on Nov. 9.

"In order to protect public health and prevent epidemics such as flu and other infectious diseases, having character of global risk, at customs checkpoints, thermometry, medical survey, visual inspection and other health check-up methods are conducted while identifying individuals with symptoms of coughing, weakness, high fever, respiratory diseases, muscle and joint diseases," the same source said.

Necessary conditions have been created for the temporary isolation of patients and suspects of the disease. In addition, constant disinfection of vehicles carried out using special protective suits at all customs checkpoints.

Necessary mechanisms have been created to permanently contact with the operational managers of urban and regional centers of hygiene and epidemiology in order to exchange information and coordinate activities.

Also thermal imagers - a device which can measure the temperature of the body from a distance - have been established at customs checkpoints.
