PM: New energy program to cost Kyrgyzstan about $1bln

"Kyrgyzstan needs up to $1 billion to implement the new energy program," the Kyrgyz Premier, Daniyar Usenov said Friday in Parliament, news agency "24.kg" reported.

"About $200 million of this amount is needed for completion of the Kambarata - 2 hydropower plant construction, about $500 million - for the new power lines setting (Datka-Kemin) and $100 million for replacement of electricity meters and other equipment," Usenov said.

The funds are to be attracted within a framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
