SOCAR expands network of filling stations in Georgia

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has opened three new filling stations in Georgia under its own brand, SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is SOCAR's subsidiary in Georgia, reported.

The new stations were opened in three locations: Tbilisi, Borjomi and Dafnari. The company commissioned the first SOCAR filling station in Georgia in 2008 and currently their number is 32.

The company intends to continue the construction of new filing stations and invest $2 million in it. In 2010, the company will commission at least 20 new filling stations in Georgia.

Dec.16, SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, which is subsidiary of SOCAR Energy Georgia and distributes the Azerbaijani oil in Georgia, was included in the "Golden List" of the Georgian Finance Ministry and received the member status at the trade and customs cooperation. This enables the company to receive substantial preferences and will greatly contribute to the further success of the company, as well as enhance its role in the revenue budget of Georgia, the company reported.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is engaged in distributing and marketing oil and oil products in Georgia. In particular, the company sells oil and gas on the Georgian market

SOCAR Energy Georgia's co-founders are SOCAR (The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan)- 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 16.3 percent.
