Eni is ready to take an active part in Turkmenistan's projects, Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni said at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov.
This corresponds to the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the energy sector signed with Eni in Rome in November 2009.
Under this agreement, Eni conducts research on the development of oil and gas potential of Turkmenistan and organize trainings of Turkmen specialists.
Eni has been operating in Turkmenistan since 2008 through the acquisition of shares of British Burren Energy. Moreover, Eni supports Turkmenistan's efforts to deliver energy resources to the markets of Pakistan and India.
National TV channel Altyn Asyr now cites quotes.
"The business circles of Italy and European countries in general are interested in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan as a country with enormous energy potential," Scaroni said.
He said that this interest is mainly stipulated by successfully developing interstate relations, ongoing Ashgabat's policy of open doors and favorable investment climate created in the country.
In his turn, Berdimuhammedov noted that Turkmenistan stakes on the introduction of the most advanced science and technology, involving major foreign consortia for collaboration.
The Turkmen fuel-energy complex conducts its integrated program of modernization of the national fuel and energy complex. There is a strategy to diversify energy export routes to the world markets.
