The oil price of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) dropped by another 0.90 dollars at mid-week, the group said Thursday, in the wake of Greece's and Portugal's lowered credit ratings, DPA reported.
OPEC's basket price fell to 82.13 dollars per barrel (159 litres) on Wednesday, the second day of decline.
"Oil prices continued their downward decline yesterday in line with a strengthening dollar, following the downgrading of Greek and Portuguese bonds by Standard & Poor's, thus rekindling doubts concerning the economic recovery," analysts at JBC Energy in Vienna said, referring to the US rating agency.
