IEA lowers forecasts on world oil demand

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 12 / Trend A.Badalova /

The International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts an increase in the world oil demand this year by 1.6 million per day to 86.4 million barrels per day compared to 86.6 million barrels per day forecasted earlier.

Based on IEA's most recent forecast on the oil market, OPEC increased oil production by 40,000 barrels per day to 29.03 million barrels per day in April 2010.

Oil supplies by non-OPEC countries declined to 52.4 million barrels per day in April, the agency reported. IEA forecasted non-OPEC countries' oil supply to reach 52.3 million barrels per day in 2010, which is 0.2 million barrels a day above the amount forecasted by IEA in March.

The growth at 0.8 million barrels a day in oil supplies by these countries in 2010 is the highest level since 2004, the report says.
