The Tajik company has won the tender on dam construction in Afghanistan

The Tajik Joint-Stock Company "TADES" will construct the first stage of a dam in the south-west of Afghanistan which erection has been begun half a century ago. According to news agency "Bakhtar", "TADES" has won the tender under the project Construction of the first stage of Kamal Khan dam on the river Helmand in Nimroz Province of, Asia-Plus reported.

The contract with 10 million dollars cost is signed at the end of last week by the Minister of Energy and by Water Resources of Afghanistan Muhammad Ismailhan and the head of company "TADES" Nurali Niyazov. As M.Ismailhan has informed at ceremony of signing of the contract, the Tajik company has been chosen on the results of open competition, in which eight companies took part. According to the Minister of Afghanistan the project, financed by the government of Afghanistan, assumes building of a reservoir with installation of three sluices. Civil work on dam construction was started about half a century ago, but have not been completed because of military operations in the country.

The head of company "TADES" has expressed hope that the signed contract will be carried out within the year. Dam construction, which total cost is 100 million dollars, is planned in three stages. The Afghani authorities declare, that the project will support with irrigation water 80 thousand hectares of the land and electric power generation in the amount of 8,5 МW. The basic directions of "TADES" activity is building and reconstruction of transmission lines and transformer substations, hydroelectric facilities, as well as Land Reclamation and Water Economy facilities. Over the years the company took part in all essential projects of Tajikistan, as well as in an electrical supply of Kunduz Province in Afghanistan.

The company has experience in building of dam, Sangtuda -1 Hydropower Station on the river Vakhsh. Currently "TADES" is participating in reconstruction works of the project on completion of HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION ROGUN in Tajikistan. The history of "TADES" activity begins with the moment of establishment of trust "Tajikselelectrostroi" in 1939. At the end of 1987 on the basis of trust and four more enterprises the tajik design-industrially-building association is formed on building of electric networks "TADES". 10 years after the association has been transformed to joint-stock company of open type, since 2004 - The closed joint-stock company.
