The largest aluminum producer in Central Asia, the state unitary enterprise "Tajik Aluminum Company" (TALCO) left without natural gas, CA-News reported on Monday.
Natural gas, used in Tajikistan is mostly imported from Uzbekistan.
The company's management hoped that the Tajik gas distribution company "Tajiktransgas" will solve the problem with resuming gas supplies to the plant.
Tajik media reported that Uzbekistan has stopped gas deliveries to Tajikistan and has started exporting gas to China since April 1.
Domestic natural gas production in Tajikistan is low and does not cover fuel demand in the country. Subsidiaries of the Russian Gazprom and the Canadian Tethys Petroleum lead the exploration of gas, but commercial production did not start.
