For the construction of Odessa-Brody-Plock oil pipeline which is part of the Euro-Asian Oil Transportation Corridor (EOTC), it is necessary for agreements to be signed between suppliers and consumers of raw materials from the Caspian Sea basin, UKRINFORM said quoting the chairman of the company operating the Drujba oil pipelines in Poland (PERN Przyjazn) Marcin Moskalevich.
At the same time the Polish side considers the construction of Odessa-Brody-Plock pipeline as promising.
"Without a doubt, international, inter-governmental agreements and those between suppliers and consumers of oil for whom the pipeline must be constructed should be the basis for the realisation of this project," Moskalevich said.
The success of the project depends on assurances of supply of Azerbaijani oil to 10 million tons per year.

As example of Poland's interest in this project can be the increase of authorisation from the international pipeline company Sarmatia, created specifically for the implementation of the EOTC by more than $1.8 million by the Polish side, Moskalevich said. "PERN Przyjazn would not dare to raise the capital of Sarmatia, if the EOTC project was not so important for it."
The Brody-Plotsk oil pipeline project was named as a priority in the EU Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme. About 495 million zlotys (about 177 million euro) were allocated to the project under the programme.
Sarmatia was created by Ukrtransnafta and the Polish PERN Przyjazn company on July 12, 2004 to attract investments to design and complete the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline to Plock.
The Odessa-Brody oil transportation project sought to diversify oil supplies to Ukrainian refineries and develop the country's transit potential. The pipeline's construction was completed in May 2002. Its trunk has a length of 674 kilometres, with a pipe diameter of 1,020 millimetres. The pipeline's and terminal's capacity provided 9-14 million tons per year during the first stage.
