Geophysics and Geology Management of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Russian Integra Geophysics completed three-dimensional seismic survey in the area of 70 square kilometers of Hovsan-Zig block of fields and the adjacent coastal zone, SOCAR said.
The works were carried out by order of the operating company Absheron Operating Company LTD.
Earlier field work was carried out at this area, which was completed in January 2012.
Materials obtained during field work, currently are being processed and interpreted by Integra Geophysics.
Three-dimensional seismic studies were conducted to produce a three-dimensional model of the fields Hovsan and Zig, clarify the geological structure and the definition of the range distribution of hydrocarbons, as well as to predict the presence of oil and gas deposits, located below the productive layer.
The use of modern technology allowed to study the cut with depth of 6-8 kilometers.
