The share of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan is expected to reach 20 % in 2020, the chief of staff of Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry and Energy Rasim Mammadov noted on Thursday during economic seminar dedicated to 'green' technologies and ornganised by Polish Embassy in Azerbaijan.
"The strategy till 2020 is being developed within the development of alternative and renewable energy sources in the country", Mammadov said.
Azerbaijan is an oil and gas country and a producer of electric power. The country extracts around 50 million tons of oil, 27 billion cubic meters of gas and over 18 billion kilowatt of electric energy per hour. In this regard, the implementation of new technologies to reduce and escape emissions, resulting from extraction and burn of fuel and gas during electric energy production.
In his words, SOCAR regularly conducts new ecological projects with implementation of modern technologies for realization of these measures.
"Azerbaijan holds extended experience in the field of oil and gas machine production. The establishments existing in this field have been established more than 50 years ago, this is why modern technologies are required", the ministry representative noted.
Active work on development of modern technologies are being conducted: a high tech park has been constructed in Sumgayit, industrial park and high tech park are being developed in Balakhani.
According to the Polish Ambassador Michal Labenda, the relations between countries are rapidly developing and are going to be broadened in future.
Azerbaijan is currently experiencing period of intensive development, which respectively requires development of modern as well as 'green' technologies.
In ambassador's words, Poland is ready to share its experience in this field with Azerbaijan.
