Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Nov. 6 / Trend H. Hasanov /

In January-October 2012 some 117.700 tons of liquefied natural gas was produced in a specialist department of Turkmengaz, 83.800 tons or nearly a quarter more than the planned 1.099.000 tons, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

Production of this department designed to process one billion cubic meters, was put into operation last year. This is the second installation of this kind which formed a major industrial hub.

Natural gas supplied here for processing is gradually dried and cooled and transported into storage. Later, the propane-butane enters the filling terminal of the Seidi Oil refinery through a 40 kilometre pipeline and from there it is sent for export.

Simultaneously selected gas condensate is also delivered to the Seidi Oil Refinery for production of light oil which is in demand abroad. The article stated that at the beginning of this year the Bagadj complex significantly exceeded its task on production of both types of hydrocarbon products.

Earlier it was reported that the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan is researching the possibility of transporting liquefied gas to the port of Baku (Azerbaijan) in special containers and further to the Romanian port of Constanta (Black Sea region).

Deliveries are scheduled to be received at the city of Turkmenbashi where the sea port is expecting a full scale reconstruction. Nterest has been shown by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Government of Turkmenistan have already signed a memorandum of understanding on the modernisation of the port.
