Turkmen State Concern Turkmengas plans to sign a contract with Chinese firm Lanzhou LS-National Oilwell Petrolium Engineering Co. Ltd within the Galkinish gas field development, according to the recently published decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
The decree provides for the purchase of five ZJ70DBS drilling rigs, required for work on the production wells. The company will also undertake installation and commissioning works on the aforementioned installations as well as personnel training.
The document states that the contract will serve the purpose of successful implementation of the country's oil and gas complex tasks and speed up production of 30 billion cubic meters of marketable gas per year in the development of the Galkinish field.
Preparations are underway at the Galkinish field located in the Mary region to launch a gas processing plant, plant for desulphurisation of produced hydrocarbons and preparation of commercial gas, production wells and infrastructure.
This field is one of the largest in the world in terms of its resource reserves, confirmed by authoritative international experts at 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.
