U.S. Ambassador: Azerbaijan is a strong state significantly contributing to world’s energy security

Azerbaijan has become a strong state, which makes a significant contribution to the energy security of the world, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar said.

The U.S. and British embassies in Azerbaijan jointly organized an official reception on Tuesday in connection with the 20th anniversary of Caspian Oil & Gas 2013 international exhibition held in Baku.

The reception was attended by the Azerbaijani MPs, representatives of international organizations, ambassadors of foreign countries to Azerbaijan and community representatives.
The U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar, during his speech at the event, stressed the importance of the exhibition and noted that the U.S. energy strategy remains unchanged.

According to him, the U.S. has always wanted Azerbaijan to become a strong and independent energy-producing state.

"Azerbaijan has become a strong state, which makes a significant contribution to the energy security of the world," the Ambassador said.

According to Morningstar, Azerbaijan contributes to the energy security of the world through the the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. He also noted that Azerbaijan is about to make the second important contribution to the energy supply by extending the Southern Gas Corridor.

The Ambassador stressed that this is of great importance both from a political and from a commercial point of view, and will be an important element, connecting Azerbaijan and Europe.

"This will create great opportunities for investments by the U.S. and British companies," the Ambassador said.
