Norway's Statoil to increase production to 2.5 million barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2020

Norway's Statoil plans to increase its production volume up to 2.5 million barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2020, the company's vice president for exploration in Europe and Asia, Terje Dahl said in an interview with Trend today.

According to Dahl, Statoil extracts two million barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which 1.5 million are extracted in Norway.

"At present, the company drills 50 deep water wells per year of which 20 are high-potential," he said. "The exploration expenses in Statoil reach $3.5 billion per year."

Statoil was founded in 1972. It was operating through the development of the Norwegian continental shelf. It operates in 35 countries and has 21,000 employees.
