An international conference on the "World View of Environmental Protection Issues in the Oil Sector" will be held in Baku on November 4-5 with SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) support, Iteca Caspian LLC reported on Thursday.
The conference is dedicated to 90 years of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev. Support for the conference is provided by IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) and Iteca Caspian LLC.
The conference will involve over 200 delegates, including representatives of governmental organizations of different countries, international oil and gas companies, scientists, and leading ecology experts.
The goal of the conference is not only to analyze the ecological issues, but also to work out current proposals for their solution via international cooperation. The conference will cover issues such as the development of the oil and gas industry and atmospheric emissions, the effects of oil and gas operations in the sea on water reservoirs, the rehabilitation and management of soil contaminated by oil and oil products, an innovational attitudes to waste management in the oil industry, alternative energetics and the effectiveness of energy use in oil and gas operations as well as other issues.
