The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) began ship refuelling operations for the first time out of the Delta Rubis terminal to supply crude oil tankers moving around the Ceyhan oil port as well as for dry cargo vessels, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

The agency reported with the reference to the head of SOCAR Marine, Zeki Tarakçi, that Ceyhan is the second place where Socar is acting as a physical supplier.

"We are the sole supplier now. Yesterday was the first day and in two months we will start with other products like gasoil," Tarakçi said.

According to Tarakçi, SOCAR will be supplied in a first instance from Greece's refineries as well as from Israel's refinery at Haifa.

In February, 2013, SOCAR signed an agreement with Delta Rubis on the storage and distribution of fuel in Ceyhan area in the Turkish province of Adana, Deniz Haber agency reported.

The company will engage in distribution of fuel oil, ship and aircraft fuel. The agreement between the two companies was signed for a period of five years.

Delta Rubis is the largest company in Turkey for the storage of fuel.
