Georgia is working hard to attract investments from Azerbaijan, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili told journalists on Wednesday.
"This country is our main neighbor-investor; we are looking for new ways to expand bilateral cooperation," Ivanishvili said.
Ivanishvili underscored that Azerbaijan has a very clever president who knows what he is doing, what he wants for his country, and who has also stressed the desire to expand economic cooperation with Georgia.
Ivanishvili said that at the moment a Georgian delegation is in Baku for talks on the intensification of oil transportation via Georgian railways.
"Since 2006, there has been an annual decline in oil transportation by one million tons; we intend to strengthen our transit opportunities, and Azerbaijan is a key player in this effort," the Georgian Prime Minister said.
Ivanishvili also expressed hope that cooperation in the energy sector, which has great prospects, will be enhanced between the two neighboring countries.
