The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation began restoration work on the 25-kilometre section of the Kakheti (Eastern Georgia) of the Rustavi-Sagarejo gas pipeline system. The Komfortmshen 21 Company won the tender. It is in charge of the operations.

It is planned to finish the work in September 2014. After the reconstruction operations are complete, the entire region of Kakheti will be provided with gas by using the so-called circular gas supply system.

Gas was supplied to Kakheti through the Rustavi- Telavi gas pipeline during the Soviet period.

The supply to the region was stopped in the 1990s due to increased losses in the gas pipeline.
