The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported some 5.6 million tons of oil in January-February compared to 5.4 million tons in the same period of 2013, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on March 17.
"The three-quarter of all oil transported via main oil pipelines of the country fell to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in January-February, the committee said.
In total, some 33 million tons of oil were transported via BTC in 2013 compared to 32.9 million tons in 2012.
Some 7.9 million tons were transported through the main oil pipelines during the reporting period compared to seven million tons in the same period of 2013, the committee said.
The total length of BТС is 1.768 kilometers including the 443 kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometer section via Georgia and the 1.076 kilometer via Turkey.
Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.
BTC Co. shareholders include BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
Some 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) in January-February compared to 651,800 cubic meters in the same period of 2013, the State Statistics Committee said.
Some 4.7 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the South Caucasus gas pipeline in 2013 to four billion cubic meters in 2012.
Some 4.3 billion cubic meters of gas were transported via the main gas pipelines in January-February or by 16.8 percent more than in January-February 2013.
The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasus gas pipeline) is over 700 km.
The gas produced from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via the pipeline. The gas is supplied to Georgia and Turkey. Azerbaijan also is a buyer of gas.
