By Temkin Jafarov - Trend:

The realization of the project on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline construction is very significant for Kabul, Afghan Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani told Trend on March 19.

Osmani is on a visit to Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

He said aside from the fact that Afghanistan will get and use the gas under this project, the country will also receive incomes from gas transportation through its territory.

The minister said the construction of the TAPI, which is a very profitable project, will create new jobs in Afghanistan.

The main procedures for starting construction of the pipeline are being completed, according to Osmani.

He said Afghanistan attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations with Turkmenistan.

The Afghan minister said the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed during his meetings earlier with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

Two stages have been successfully completed within the TAPI project, the Afghan foreign minister said. The first stage is the talks between the two countries, and the second - appraisal works, coordination of questions about the cost of gas.

Construction contracts, tenders and investment will be reviewed during the realization of the third stage.
