Azerbaijan holds national standards expertise for new processing complex

The Standardization and Certification Institute of State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents continues to receive draft national standards for a new complex for oil and gas processing and production of petrochemical production (OGPC) and their expertisation.

The new draft standards are submitted to the Institute by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which would build a new processing facility. OGPC will be located 60 kilometers from Baku and will consist of three processing plants and a thermal power plant.

In accordance with the existing procedure, after examination, the projects on national standard are submitted to the committee for approval.

"Works are being continued in this regard. Though standards are not confirmed on OGPC yet, but major projects on standards are submitted to the Institute and sent for examination," the state committee reported.

As the committee reported earlier, about 50 new standards will be approved in the near future as part of creating a new complex in the country.

The standards, which are planned to be applied during the construction and operation of the new complex prepared on the basis of the agreement signed between the Azerbaijan the Standardization and Certification Institute of the State Committee and SOCAR.

Period of implementation of the first phase of the project is two years. The overall duration of the project - eight years.

As said previously the vice-president of SOCAR processing David Mammadov, SOCAR plans to complete commissioning and start production at OGPC for 2023-2025 years.
