Azerbaijan reduces electricity export by over a third

Azerbaijan exported around 220 million kilowatt hours of electricity in January -April 2014, in accordance with the customs declaration, versus 342.1 million kilowatt hours in the same period of 2013, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee reported on May 16.

Azerbaijan exported electricity totaling $9.85 million in January -April, compared to nearly $13.5 million in the same period of 2013, according to the report.

Azerbaijan exported over 595.67 million kilowatt hours of electricity, totaling $24.85 million in 2013, in accordance with the customs declaration, versus 482.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity, totaling some $24.76 million in 2012.

The power plants of the Azerenergy JSC generated about eight billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January -April, compared to nearly 7.8 billion kilowatt hours in the same period of 2013.

Azerenergy JSC is engaged in production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan.

The capacity of the power plants owned by the Azerenergy JSC exceeds 6,000 megawatts.
