The World Energy Leader's Summit will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan during the seventh Astana Economic Forum, from May 21 to May 22, 2014, the country's КаzEnergy Association said.
The summit to be held at the Palace of Independence, will focus on the theme 'Energy in transition: opportunities and emerging risks', according to KazEnergy.
"This summit will be held by the World Energy Council for the first time in the CIS region," KazEnergy Association said.
The World Energy Council (WEC) is the largest international non-governmental organization in the energy sphere. It was created in 1923 at the initiative of business and energy circles of Great Britain and some industrialized countries of Europe and North America.
The association said the World Energy Leader's Summit will be attended by the chairman of the board of directors of IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA), a winner of the Pulitzer Prize and author of the international bestseller entitled "The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power", Daniel Yergin and Russia's Deputy Energy Minister Yuri Sentiurin.
Moreover, the chairman of the World energy Council, Marie-Jose Nadeau, the deputy chairman of the KazEnergy Association, Dzhambulat Sarsenov, as well as the chairman of Kazakhstan National Committee at the WEC, chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energo JSC, Almasadam Satkaliyev will take part at the event.
