Azerbaijan's oil production increases by 1.2% in 2013

Azerbaijan's oil production in 2013 amounted to 931,000 barrels per day, which is 1.2 percent more than in 2012, according to the annual BP Statistical Review of World Energy.

Azerbaijan's share in global oil production was 1.1 percent last year.

Oil consumption in the country increased by 9.8 percent - up to 101,000 barrels per day in 2013.

BP estimates of proven oil reserves in Azerbaijan remained unchanged - at seven billion barrels, which is 0.4 percent of the world's proven oil reserves.

The bulk of oil in Azerbaijan comes from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block.

The contract on developing large offshore field ACG was concluded in 1994. The proven oil reserves on the block are about one billion tons.

Shares in the contract for development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields is distributed as follows: BP (operator in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli) - 35.78 percent, Chevron - 11.27 percent, Inpex - 10.96 percent, AzACG - 11.65 percent, Statoil - 8.56 percent, Exxon - 8 percent, TPAO - 6.75 percent, Itochu - 4.3 percent and ONGC - 2.72 percent.
