Oil transportation via BTC through Turkey increase

Some 113.26 million barrels of oil was transported in January-May 2014 via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline through Turkey, compared to about 105.41 million barrels in the same period of 2013, Turkish state-run pipeline company Botas said on July 11.

In total in 2013, the BTC transported through Turkey about 249.62 million barrels of oil compared to 250.34 million barrels in 2012.

BTC's total length is 1,768 km, 443 km of which run through Azerbaijan, 249 km - Georgia, 1,076 km - Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003, and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Company (BTC Co) was established for the project's implementation on August 1, 2002.

BTC Co shareholders are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).

In January-May, the Iraq-Turkey Crude Oil Pipeline transported through Turkey nearly 15 million barrels versus 43.2 million barrels in the same period of 2013. Last year, the pipeline transported 91.88 million barrels compared to 145.63 million barrels in 2012.

In January-May, the Ceyhan-Kirikkale Pipeline transported through Turkey about 9.71 million barrels of oil versus 8.37 million barrels a year earlier. In total, the Ceyhan-Kirikkale Pipeline transported 23.74 million barrels in 2013, compared to 21.96 million barrels in 2012.

Between January and May, the Batman-Dordyol Pipeline transported over 5.2 million barrels of oil, compared to about 4.8 million barrels in the same period of 2013.

Last year, the Batman-Dordyol Pipeline transported 11.57 million barrels versus 11.25 million barrels in 2012.
