Turkey continues increasing gas imports

Turkish state-run pipeline company Botas imported 17.22 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas from various sources in January-May 2014, as compared to 15.54 bcm in the same period of 2013, according to a message from the company.

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

Botas imported a total of 38.42 bcm of gas from various sources in 2013, versus 43.09 bcm in 2012.

Aside from that, some 258 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas accounted for Botas' export operations in January-May, versus 227 mcm in the same period of last year.

Some 694 mcm of gas accounted for Botas' export operations in 2013, as compared to 622 mcm in 2012.

The company said that some 17.82 bcm of gas was sold in the Turkish domestic market in January-May, versus 16.45 bcm in January-May, 2013.

Last year, this figure was over 37.96 bcm, compared to 41.44 bcm in 2012.
