Roxi Petroleum, the Central Asian oil and gas company, is currently awaiting additional heavy drilling fluids to arrive at deep well A5 at the BNG Contract Area in Kazakhstan in order to allow it to take core samples, the company reported on July 23.

Earlier the company encountered oil and gas shows at the deep well A5 at the BNG contract area at a depth of 4,332 meters.

The BNG Contract Area is located in the west of Kazakhstan 40 kilometers southeast of Tengiz on the edge of the Mangistau region, covering an area of 1,561 square kilometers of which 1,376 square kilometers has 3D seismic coverage acquired in 2009 and 2010.
Roxi Petroleum has a 58.41 percent interest in the BNG Contract Area.

Well A5, the first deep well on the BNG Contract Area, with a planned total depth of 4,700 meters is targeting principally the middle Carboniferous formation at 4,390 meters of the South Emba sub-basin.

A further announcement will be made once core samples have been analyzed to determine the oil bearing horizon and quantify the discovery.
