SOCAR-AQS LLC that renders services for the drilling and maintenance of wells is starting to drill a new well in the shallow part of the Guneshli field in the Caspian Sea.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has some 51 percent share in this company.

The projected depth of the well is 3,500 meters, according to SOCAR-AQS LLC.
The average daily production volume at the field is expected to be 150,000 cubic meters of gas and 15 tons of oil.

SOCAR-AQS LLC was founded in 2007 by SOCAR and Absheron Drilling as a joint enterprise rendering integrated services for the drilling and maintenance of wells.

Guneshli field plays an important role in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan. The shallow part of the field is developed by SOCAR independently, while the deep part is developed as part of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block (together with foreign partners).

SOCAR plans to drill 20 new wells to increase oil and gas production in the shallow part of the Guneshli field. Existing wells at this field are being repaired, besides drilling the new ones.
