By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan has lifted restrictions on the import of petroleum products from Russia, Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin said at a briefing in the Central Communication Service under the president on July 30.

"I must inform that a decree on lifting restrictions on the import of petroleum products from Russia to Kazakhstan has been signed," he said.

"The restrictions were imposed in the spring 2014 as large volumes of oil products were imported to Kazakhstan in the first quarter. As a result, there is a risk that the entire volume of oil products from Russia, envisaged by the indicative plan and agreed by the parties, will be exhausted in a short time.

"Then one operator on supply in the face of "KazMunayGas Onimderi" was determined," the minister said. "Following six months, we see that no more than a half of the indicative plan was brought due to the taken measures. So, today we remove restrictions upon the joint order of the oil and gas ministry and transport ministry. This procedure is now being coordinated by the bodies of the Customs Union. It is very important for us to supply evenly to Kazakhstan by late 2014."
