Kazakhstan sees decrease in oil production in H1

Around 39.7 million tons of oil was produced in Kazakhstan in the first half of 2014, which is 1.6 percent less than in the same period of 2013, the country's Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin said on July 30.

"Some 7.2 million tons of oil was processed in the country in the first half of 2014," Karabalin stressed.

He said that the modernization of three large oil refineries of Kazakhstan will be completed in 2016; as a result, the country will be fully provided with gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel of Euro-4 and Euro-5 standard.

Around 21.1 billion cubic meters of gas was produced in the first half of 2014, which is 2 percent more than in the same period of 2013. The production of marketable dry gas totaled 14 billion cubic meters, while the production of liquefied gas exceeded 1.186 million tons, the minister said.

The domestic gas consumption increased by 20 percent and stood at 6.9 billion cubic meters in the first half of 2014, the oil and gas minister added.

"The task of the Oil and Gas Ministry is to make every effort to keep oil production at last year's record level in the volume of 81.8 million tons," Karabalin stressed.
