Deputy Minister: Azercell may receive 3G licenses following preparation of all documents

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 25 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The issue concerning granting licenses to Azercell Telecom mobile operator company to provide the 3G standard services is delayed due to the provision of documents in an improper manner, Azerbaijani Deputy Communications and IT Minister Iltimas Mammadov said.

Documents must be submitted in accordance with the requirements.

If the documents will be prepared in due course, no problems will occur with issuing the license, he added.

In turn, the Azercell Telecom head stated on complete readiness of network infrastructure to launch 3G services. In addition to the ready network infrastructure Azercell Telecom can also provide market-user devices that support innovative services. In 2009, the company also tested the fourth generation (4G) standard.

"So far, only Azerfon Ltd has received the 3G license. Bakcell Company has not applied for the 3G licenses," Mammadov said.

The official cost of the license set by the government is 11,000 manat.
